Weirdest prayer request I’ve ever sent, but in the next 4 weeks we are actually praying that Leo, born very prematurely, will go into heart failure. If he goes into heart failure then that means the medication they are using to treat his pulmonary hypertension is working. If not, we will have to make some big decisions about how much his little body can handle. The cardiothoracic surgeon was very transparent. He said if they did the surgery to close the holes in Leo’s heart right now, which is an easy peasy no big deal surgery, he would be intubated for the surgery and then we’d never be able to extubate him, it would simply make Leo so sick he would die. The pressure in his lungs is just too high. If we can’t alleviate some of the pulmonary hypertension with these meds, then his lungs won’t be able to tolerate the additional pressure that would be added after closing the holes. Never did I ever think I would pray for heart failure, but here we are 🙏🏼 Pray hard, please.
